The earliest mention of Haryana has been located in an ancient Sanskrit script that is on display at the Delhi Museum as of today. A region of immense religious and historical significance, Haryana has a history that is more than 5,000 years old.
Haryana is closely related to the Vedic civilization. It was here that the Vedas were composed and supposedly the ground where Lord Krishna narrated the Bhagvad Gita to Arjun (one of the Pandava brothers from the great epic Mahabharata).
Haryana finds a mention in the Mahabharata as Bahudhhanyaka or "the land of plenty." Haryana - being the 'gateway to North India' was the scene of many historic wars.
